Festival of Sail

September 5-6

This festival hosted at the Maritime Museum of San Diego, transforms the city’s North Embarcadero into a nautical theme park during Labor Day weekend. The Festival of Sail is also the largest tall ship festival on the entire west coast.

Additionally, there will be a parade from the mouth of the San Diego Bay past Shelter Island and Downtown on September 4, from 12:30 pm to 5 pm. The next two days consist of the festival which will also feature the Maritime Museum ships and exhibits, visiting ships, demonstrations, activities and beer gardens.

 

The 4th Annual U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge & Dimensional Art Exposition

September 4-7

Over 300 tons of sand will be dumped on San Diego’s B Streer Pier Downtown and sculpted into some of the most amazing sandcastles imaginable.

The competition is open to the public and stretches 1,000 feet into the bay with a gorgeous backdrop of the city skyline. The event is open from 9 am – 7 pm and features sculptors from around Europe and Canada challenging the best from across the United States.

 

Taste of Old Town

September 10

Located in the oldest section of San Diego, the taste of Old Town celebrates some of the city’s finest Mexican cuisine. There will be food from many of the local restaurants, spirits, live music and plenty of entertainment.

Tickets start as low as $25 and the event takes place from 6-9 pm. We highly recommend attending one of the best September events the city has t offer, especially if you are in town for a vacation.

 

Crab and Sushi Fest

September 12

The first ever crab and sushi fest will be held at Liberty Station in Point Loma from 12-6 pm and sponsored by popular local brewery, Ballast Point. Portions of the proceeds will go to the Rady Children’s Hospital and Friends of Scott Foundation.

$150 includes entrance into the V.I.P. area next to stage, All You Can Eat Crab legs and Sushi, 5 Drink Tickets (2 cocktails, 3 beer or wine), Crab Fest T-Shirt and Sunglasses. Entrance to the After Party (limited 200 tickets).

$75 includes entrance and 1 Pound of Crab legs and choice of 1 of 3 sushi rolls, 2 beer or wine drink tickets.

Additionally, there will be live music with special guest artist Tribal Theory headlining.

 

San Diego Festival of Beer

September 18

The 21st annual original San Diego Festival of Beer is back again! Located on the Broadway Pier in Downtown, the festival runs from 6-10 pm.

Each ticket includes admission into the event, unlimited (2 oz) beer tastes and the first 1,500 guests receive a free souvenir event logo tasting mug to keep. The festival features over 60 different breweries serving 120 types of craft beers. Finally, there will be live music and entertainment as well.
