Rockaway Cottage

Charming 1923 beach cottage in a quiet and private court side setting in the heart of Mission Beach. This bit of paradise has been updated and newly furnished in a modern beach cottage decor. Only steps from Mission Bay, 500 yards to the Ocean, and a short walk to restaurants, shops, and Catamaran Spa, this cottage is the best of both worlds – easy access to the excitement and energy of the beach, yet near the bay for a calm respite to refresh the soul. This original beach house is nestled among others, still in use by full-time residents. As a result this property is best suited for a those seeking a quiet interlude within an active Mission Beach area.

Inviting and comfortable living room features a large-screen TV. Well-equipped eat-in kitchen provides informal seating. Gate-leg table allows more formal dining when expanded in living room. The master bedroom has a queen bed, flat-screen TV, desk, and private bathroom with shower. A second bedroom also includes a queen bed. The third bedroom includes a twin bunk bed with a pull out twin trundle.

The cottage is perfect for a beach vacation, but if you need to bring that laptop, it is also a great place for getting some work done. A desk and computer chair are available in the master bedroom; a portable laptop table allows for computer use throughout the house. Cottage comes complete with wireless internet, dishwasher, full-sized washer/dryer, bathtub/shower, and gas BBQ. Very close to Santa Clara Recreation Center/Mission Bay Aquatic Center which offers classes and water sport rentals, from jet skis, wake boards, water skis, sailboats, paddle boats, kayaks, paddle boards, pontoon boats, and even jetpack experiences. They also offer tennis court and racquet rentals, basketball courts, softball fields, and fishing off of their docks.

No onsite parking, but street parking on Mission Sands is available. There is also a public parking lot nearby on Santa Clara and a few blocks away on El Carmel. Please read all the signs before you park in public spots.

This was the perfect place to stay while visiting San Diego! This location is close to the airport, within 30 minutes of most major attractions, and a 2 minute walk away from the ocean. The home is cozy and clean. A great place to unwind after site seeing and exploring. I would reccomend the Rockaway Cottage to anyone who is visiting San Diego.

Clean,so cute our first stay we have always stayed in hotels It's so close to the Bay but a very short walk to the beach. Centrally located within walking distance to everything you need. We had a great time and will definitely stay again

Everything was easy to access, the instructions to access the home, the beach, where to park, enough clean towels, linens, soap, even beach toys for the kids. There's lots to do: Belmont, sea world, paddle boarding, kayaking, lots of activities that are walking distance, we will visit again for sure!

I moved to San Diego in 1987 and always vacationed elsewhere. My midweek stay at the Rockaway Cottage was by far my most convenient, relaxing and memorable getaway. The cottage was amazing with all it's amenities and more. The location was perfect in a quiet and quaint neighborhood. Just steps away from the bay, I watched the sun rise and just 3 blocks from the beach, I enjoyed the sunsets. Booking, check in and check out information provided by Mission Sands was top notch! I will most definitely do this again with any of the properties managed by Mission Sands.

The Rockaway cottage is well equipped and comfortable for a family of 4-6. The rooms are not large but they are well furnished. There is a living room with working TV that had both cable and Chromecast. Nice bathrooms and the bed was comfortable. The property is within walking distance of the Mission beach and the Mission bay on the other side. There are many good restaurants reachable by walk on Mission Boulevard. Balaji Rathakrishnan

This is a nice home in a great location. Steps to the bay and a short walk to the ocean. Close to restaurants and shops. It’s clean and well stocked with everything from boogie boards to baking pans. Overall, would definitely rent again. You don’t have to bring anything but your swimsuits!

Great location. Lots of cafes and restaurants close by. Walked everywhere. Very clean house. Everything we needed. Neighborhood was much quieter than I would have thought. No noise at night and great for kids sleeping in.

We stayed here mid-January to mid-February. The two space heaters take care of any morning chill. The cottage is extremely comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped- it even has sharp knives. The location is private yet so near the bay and the ocean. This is a perfect unit for a family. The unit has a variety of recreational equipment.

The property is exactly as described. Very charming, amazing location and full of amenities. We decided not to rent a car. We were able to walk or take a short Uber ride anywhere we needed to go. The home is literally nestled between the ocean and the bay. We enjoyed both!! We also took advantage of using the bikes, beach chairs and beach toys. Our family of 5 fit perfectly in the home. I'd highly recommend this property to other families!

Great Vacation Home

We spent two weeks in the Rockaway Cottage with friends and family. You can't ask for a better location to take in all of the activities that the area offers. We've rented many homes in this area and this is one of the better ones. Too often you find the pictures shown don't represent what you actually get, but this place doesn't disappoint. We can't wait to book this place again!

Rockaway Rocked It

Location and facilities were perfect for us with three small children in tow. It was quiet and tranquil and a wonderful place to get out of the sun when we needed it. Close to both beaches and to the local restaurants and bars. Great as a landing place for exploring San Diego and Sea World.Mission Sands Team made the process of checking in easy and stress free!

Awesome bungalow!

Rockaway Cottage was amazing. Clean, organized, very well stocked, comfortable and such a convenient location to the bay side and ocean side. Quiet neighbors, stocked with bikes, beach toys and loved having the washer/dryer. Cooking at 'home' is so nice when you just want to spend time at the beach or riding bikes all day. The Management is very conscientious of details and communicating with us Prior and durring our stay.We drove from Texas in a full size van which we did park in open parking lot about 6 minute walk away. (not bad) I did use the Beach Fire Guy from the agency and that was wonderful. We had beach fire, 5 chairs, tiki torches and s'mores for 8 ... all for about 4 hours one evening. I definitely recommend this activity! Great experience for my first time renting a house....on the beach...in San Diego!! You will not be disappointed!

The house was just the cutest! Only thing that I didn't like was how small the parking spot was and we were un able to park our larger car there. Other than that it was in an amaZing spot. 30 second walk to the bay and 1 minute walk to the ocean. So many shops and fun places tip go.

Family Vacay

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was adorable and perfect for our size family. Loved the decor and the fact that the house had bikes, boogie boards, beach chairs and toys. In the note I received it specifically said none of those items were there. That was a bummer because I ended up packing more than I needed which was rough in our super crammed car. I knew the house didn't have air, which we didn't mind, except if happened to be super hot the week we were in town and the neighbors happened to have a bee issue so we were nervous about some of the Windows or doors being opened. The small patio in front was great (when the bees weren't active) we loved sitting out there to enjoy a meal or play a game. The house is super close to everything so we walked everywhere. The bay was maybe 50 feet from the house which was so amazing as we have small children that loved playing there all day. The ocean side was a super short walk as well so it was nice to also have that option. Overall... Great trip!

Great Beach House Getaway!

Myself and four of my best friends stayed at the Rockaway Cottage and we LOVED it! This cottage was cozy and roomy and had EVERYTHING! It was just 20 ft. or so from the beach and an excellent coffee shop around the corner. The booking experience with Mission Sands was very pleasant as well. They really worked to make it an easy process. I could not have been happier with our entire experience. I HIGHLY recommend!

Great house in Mission Beach, clean, quiet, but uncomfortable beds

We had 6 adults and 2 infants stay for a long weekend at the house. It was a great location and quiet neighborhood area with some places to eat nearby. Obviously the location right by the bay and a block from the ocean is hard to beat. House was very clean and well kept and had a good layout for us.
